Mautam (Bamboo flowering famine)

Food
For Work programme,
2009
- II Phase |
|
A total of 11,899 families were
assisted through Food For Work Program in the II Phase relief in
Henglep, Thanlon, Vangai, Cachar, Tipaimukh and Jiribam areas in
partnership with Evangelical Churches Association & Hmar
Christian Leaders Forum from Manipur and Cachar and Vangai area
churches with the support of its donor World Relief Canada/Canadian
Food Grains Bank.
During this FFW programme Environmental Awareness Campaign was
also conducted and the resource person was Dr. Z. Changsan,
Scientist 'C' from Central Pollution Control Board, Government
of India. It was an eye opener for the participants as he spoke
on the Environmental issues. All participants were keen to know
about the issues on environment and asked for more trainings, as
a one-day session could not cover all subjects like balance
environment and other things which the community can do to save
the environment. |
